ElyriaMC — Staff Application Overview

This page outlines the staff application process, requirements, and tips for becoming a member of the ElyriaMC staff team. Please read everything carefully before applying. Yes, all of it.

Staff Application Process

Becoming staff on ElyriaMC happens in three stages:
Application → Review → Trial

Step 1: Application Stage

Submit your application via the Staff Applications form.

While your application is under review, the following is expected:

  • Consistent in-game activity

  • No rule violations across ElyriaMC platforms

  • Professional behaviour in chat, Discord, and other public spaces

If you do not meet the requirements or are deemed unsuitable, your application will be denied with a reason provided. You may reapply after 3 months.

If accepted, you’ll move on to Step 2.

Step 2: Review Stage (Text-Based)

If your application passes initial screening, you will be given the Pending role in the ElyriaMC Discord. This grants access to a private #pending channel.

During this stage:

  • Staff may ask follow-up questions about your application

  • Scenarios may be presented to test judgement and rule knowledge

  • Communication will be entirely text-based

This stage allows us to evaluate how you think, explain decisions, and apply the rules without pressure or voice interviews.

If you fail this stage, you will be informed via direct message and may reapply after 3 months.
If you pass, you’ll move on to Step 3.

Step 3: Trial Stage

The trial stage lasts approximately 2 weeks.

During this time, you will hold the role of Helper. This period is used to assess:

  • Activity and reliability

  • Accuracy of punishments

  • Professionalism and maturity

  • Ability to work with the staff team

As a Trainee, you are expected to:

  • Assist players

  • Moderate chat

  • Handle appropriate player reports

  • Record evidence for all punishments issued

Excessive false punishments, inactivity, or unprofessional behaviour may result in demotion. If demoted, you may reapply after 3 months.

Successful Helpers will be promoted to Moderator.

Application Requirements

All requirements must be met. Missing even one will result in an automatic denial.
Meeting the requirements does not guarantee acceptance.

You must:

  • Be able to record videos and screenshots of rule breakers
    (Minimum: 720p @ 30FPS)

  • Be active on ElyriaMC for at least 3 months

  • Have previous staff or moderation experience

  • Put genuine effort into your application — low-effort answers will be denied

  • Be honest and provide verifiable proof of past experience

  • Not ask staff members to review or comment on your application

  • Have no more than 1 mute in the last month

  • Have no bans in the last 6 months

  • Be 15 years of age or older

  • Not be affiliated with blacklisted or problematic players/groups

  • Not share your Minecraft, Discord, or forum accounts

  • Not use generative AI in your application

Yes, we do check. Lying will end the process immediately.

Traits That Improve Your Chances (Optional)

Not required, but helpful:

  • Active reporting and helping players

  • Above-average in-game activity

  • Being part of ElyriaMC for 6+ months

  • A clean punishment history

  • Positive interactions with current staff

  • Discord activity

  • Being 16+ years old

Application Tips

Before submitting:

  • Take your time — rushed applications show

  • Be honest and confident

  • Explain any past punishments and what you learned

  • Proofread your answers

  • Address feedback if reapplying

  • Stand out — tell us why you belong on the team

We’re looking for people who add value, not just people who want a rank.

Issuing Player Reports – ElyriaMC

This thread explains how to correctly submit a player report on the ElyriaMC network.
Please read all sections carefully before creating a report. Reports that do not follow these guidelines may be denied without review.

What You Need Before Submitting a Report

Before submitting a player report, make sure you have all of the following:

  • The offender’s Minecraft username

    • If the player is nicked, you must include evidence of you using /realname on them at some point in your report.

  • A clear understanding of which rule was broken.

  • Valid evidence of the offence (see below).

  • The date the evidence was collected.

What Is Considered Invalid Evidence

The following types of evidence will not be accepted:

  • Cropped screenshots that only show part of the game.

    • All screenshots and recordings must be full-screen.

  • Blurry screenshots where chat or the player’s username is unreadable.

  • Video evidence with extremely low or choppy FPS.

  • Blurry videos where staff cannot clearly identify the player or rule violation.

  • Forged, staged, or misleading evidence.

  • Edited evidence of any kind.

  • Outdated evidence.

    • Reports must be submitted within 2 weeks of the offence.

  • Evidence submitted by blacklisted players.

  • Evidence that requires a download to view.

Reporting a Forums User

Please do not use the Player Reports section for forum-related issues.

Instead:

  • Use the “Report” button on the specific forum post, or

  • Use the “Report” button on the user’s forum profile.

When reporting through the forums, do not:

  • Submit joke or fake reports.

  • Report staff responses to appeals, player reports, purchase support tickets, or similar staff actions.

  • Report users for invalid reasons.

    • Only report users who are violating the Forums or Communication Rules.

Submitting misuse reports may result in disciplinary action on the forums.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I report a player privately?

A: No. We do not accept private reports for in-game offences.
Please do not message staff members to submit private reports — you will be directed to the Player Reports section.

All player reports are confidential within the staff team and are not shared publicly.

Q: Can I report a staff member?

A: We do not currently have a formal staff reporting system.
If you have valid and sufficient evidence of staff misconduct, you may contact senior staff (Admins+) via Discord or a forum conversation.

This is taken seriously, so be prepared to provide clear evidence and answer follow-up questions if requested.

Q: Can I report Discord offences here?

A: Yes. Discord offences may be reported, provided you include valid, non-cropped evidence that clearly shows usernames, IDs, and the rule violation.

Q: Do I need timestamps for video evidence?

A: Yes — if your video is 2 minutes or longer, you must provide approximate timestamps showing when the offence occurs.
Failure to include timestamps may result in your report being denied and returned for resubmission.

Submitting Your Report

Once you have:

  • Read these guidelines

  • Collected valid evidence

  • Confirmed the rule violation

You are ready to submit a player report in the Player Reports section.

Reports that follow these guidelines help us review cases faster and more fairly.

ElyriaMC Appeals Guidelines & Information

This thread contains important information about appealing punishments issued on the ElyriaMC network.
Before submitting an appeal, please read this thread carefully to ensure your appeal follows our guidelines.

You can find our Network Rules here:

Before Submitting an Appeal

Please keep the following points in mind before submitting an appeal. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in your appeal being denied without review.

  • Temporary punishments may not be appealed unless you believe they were applied incorrectly or you were punished for cheating.

  • If a punishment occurred while your account was shared or compromised, you are still responsible for any actions taken on your account.

  • Appeals must be submitted by the account owner. If the account owner is unable to submit an appeal themselves, they should contact a staff member for assistance.

  • Follow any instructions given to you in previous appeals (for example, being told to wait until a specific date). Ignoring instructions may negatively affect your appeal.

  • Once a decision has been made on an appeal, do not submit further appeals for the same punishment. Appeal decisions are final.

  • Do not create public threads complaining about your punishment or a staff member’s decision. These will be removed and may result in further action.

  • Do not harass, threaten, or abuse staff members regarding a punishment or appeal outcome. This may result in forum warnings or your appeal being immediately denied.

  • Do not “bump” appeals to request faster responses. Doing so will push your appeal to the back of the queue.

  • Do not message staff members asking them to review your appeal. Appeals are handled in order and contacting staff may result in denial.

Appealing Mutes

If you wish to appeal a mute on ElyriaMC, please keep the following in mind:

  • Mute appeals must be submitted in the Punishment Appeals section.

  • If you have already received a mute reduction in the past, you may not be eligible for another reduction.

  • Permanent mute appeals may only be submitted after at least one month from the mute date.

  • Depending on the severity and history of the offence, you may be asked to wait longer before submitting an appeal.

Appealing Bans

If you wish to appeal a ban on ElyriaMC, please note the following:

  • Ban appeals must be submitted in the Ban Appeals section.

  • If you have already received a ban reduction for the same offence, you are not eligible for another reduction.

  • If you were instructed to complete an in-game requirement (such as a punishment system or jail), you are not eligible for a ban reduction for that offence.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for an appeal to be reviewed?

Appeal review times vary depending on the punishment type, severity, and the number of appeals currently waiting. Blacklist appeals and escalated cases typically take longer. We review appeals as quickly as possible.

What does “Escalated” mean on my appeal?

This means your appeal requires review by a senior staff member and has been forwarded for further consideration.

Why was my cheating appeal denied if I wasn’t cheating?

Cheating appeals are denied only after staff have reviewed logs and evidence. If you believe a mistake was made, ensure your appeal clearly explains your situation and includes any relevant context.

I have another question about the appeal process

If you have questions regarding the appeal process itself, you may contact a staff member via Discord or through a forum conversation. Please do not contact staff regarding the status of an active appeal.
